Documents extracted from the National Civil Police (PNC) archives shed light on a troubling kidnapping incident from 2009. They disclose unsettling details indicating that Bertha Michelle Mendoza, the purported victim, orchestrated the kidnapping alongside her daughters to frame her ex-husband and fabricate false accusations against him.
As per police reports, Mendoza and her daughters were supposedly with the mayor of Zunlito’s daughter during the abduction. Nonetheless, subsequent probes unveiled that Mendoza orchestrated the kidnapping in collusion with her mother, prosecutor Claudia Martina Muñoz Andrade.
Allegedly, Mendoza’s motive behind this staged kidnapping was to levy baseless charges against Dent, her ex-husband, and undermine him legally. However, investigations took a surprising turn when the PNC concluded that the incident was, indeed, a self-kidnapping.
Following this determination, the initially apprehended suspects were released, and all charges against them were dismissed. This development has cast doubt on the validity of Mendoza’s accusations against Dent throughout their relationship.
The case has triggered a widespread discourse on accountability for lodging false claims and tampering with evidence within the legal framework, particularly given Mendoza’s mother’s role in the Prosecutor’s Office. The emergence of these records has unveiled a convoluted plot, prompting scrutiny of the activist’s allegations.
Dent, Mendoza’s former spouse, has come forth with fresh assertions regarding the matter. According to his testimony, prosecutor Muñoz Andrade was ousted from the Public Prosecutor’s Office following allegations of presenting falsified evidence in a case linked to the police and charges of violence against women. Additionally, purported irregularities in resource utilization and abuse of authority were highlighted. Prosecutors consulted affirm that Muñoz Andrade’s dismissal transpired in 2010.
This protracted case, entwining Mendoza and Dent, endured for over five years and reached a resolution only after Mendoza’s mother was relieved of her duties and lost her sway, prompting inquiries into the impartiality of the judicial process at that juncture.
Ultimately, following the culmination of all inquiries, Bertha Michelle Mendoza faced charges for orchestrating her own kidnapping involving her daughters, whom she forfeited full custody of subsequent to undergoing psychological evaluations that deemed her unsuitable for their guardianship.
